No More Frustration

"My son's frustration that was caused when any amount of reading was involved, was difficult to manage. Since therapy he has begun to read better, quicker, and actually enjoys it. What a gift to a parent. My husband, my son, and I are grateful for the diagnosis and help that we got through Dr. Cantwell."

A Child Gains Confidence

"When we came to see Dr. Cantwell, Nicky had lost all of her confidence and was very frustrated. She was very down on herself. After her vision problem was identified and we explained the problem, she started to feel better. As she progressed through therapy, her confidence started to come back. By the end of her sessions, she was reading at grade level and her confidence came back. She was more open to making friends and she was less frustrated in school and at home. It is just so great to see her happy again."

A Parent Shares Success: Son Regains Confidence, Self-Esteem

"My son avoided doing homework and cried when he had to read. Vision Therapy has helped him to be more confident in school. His writing is much improved and legible. He has more self-confidence and self-esteem. It is reflected in his schoolwork, grades and sports activities.

I would have loved to have had a Vision Therapy screening when he entered kindergarten.

Thank you for giving us out happy-go-lucky son back."

A Parent Shares Succes: A Daughter's Reading Level Improves Dramatically

"My daughter always enjoyed school, but getting her to read and do her homework with us was always a battle. Now, she never argues with us to do her work and she's completing it in half the time it used to take her. When she began Vision Therapy, she was a DRA 18 which is about 1 year behind. Now, she is a DRA 34 and on grade level and receiving all A's and B's on her report card! Not only hs the improved academically, but her self confidence has flourished. I can't thank Dr. Cantwell and his staff enough. They have all changed my daughter's life."

A Parent Shares Success

“As a teacher for 16 years, I have worked with children with various learning difficulties. Based on my experiences, I was very concerned about my own child’s progress in K-3. He avoided reading, read with little fluency and was below grade level. He was not able to write or
learn information without memorizing orally. He was often fatigued, distracted, and uncomfortable in school. He seemed to always have red eyes in school.

“His year at vision therapy has been a genuine success story. After a summer of vision therapy, he was one year above grade level in reading. He has been extremely successful in all academic areas. Studying infinitely easier. He has become a happy, capable and confident student. I would like to strongly encourage any parent who has a child struggling in school to have their child screened for tracking issues. My child has 20/20 vision so his visual impairment was not discovered earlier. I do not believe any modifications in school would have been effective in helping my child to do well in school. Vision Therapy has been critical in his development.

“I am very grateful to Dr. Cantwell, Mrs. Cantwell and Sherell! Their dedication has been life-altering for my son.”

“Since my son entered the public school system, he has been behind in reading. He also struggled in other areas like math and writing. Needless to say, his self-esteem suffered because of it. He was also diagnosed with visual perceptual issues which made sports and other extracurricular activities difficult. A friend shared her success story with me (with Cantwell Vision Therapy) so we had an evaluation. Shortly after, we started therapy. In about six months time we noticed a great improvement and the teacher at school also noticed. My son had SOLs in the spring and, not only did he pass everything, he was advanced in a few areas. This year he is in the 4th grade and doing amazing. He is reading on grade level AND he made the honor roll. He also just finished his 1st season of flag football and did great. His confidence is wonderful and it has made our whole family much happier. I am sad, in a way, to be finished because the staff is amazing and I will miss them. Our story is truly a success story.”

“My daughter started Vision Therapy with a light therapy phase and then moved to the in-office sessions twice a week. Her difficulties in school were apparent in her reading comprehension, reading fluency and in resolving new words. Within six months of the Vision Therapy program, we were able to notice improved reading fluency, less stumbling over new words and a decrease in skipping words. It was becoming evident the light therapy and the Vision Therapy programs were producing benefits. She was struggling much less with her reading assignments and homework. Dr. Cantwell then adjusted her program to focus on visual perceptual exercises which in turn began to improve her reading comprehension. In the classroom, this definitely improved her ability to read a passage then answer questions about what was read. It also helped her overcome her dislike of chapter books.

“We truly appreciate the help and the results we received from Dr. Cantwell and his professional staff.”
